Meet Ivana
I am Ivana Hrushowy (she/her), a Canadian Certified Counsellor based in Calgary, Alberta, in Treaty 7 Territory.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, on Treaty 6 Territory, and I bring a strong connection to the Prairies and a deep understanding of the communities I serve. I maintain meaningful ties across the region, particularly in Manitoba, which I consider a second home. I am proud of my Ukrainian heritage and the ways it shapes my identity, grounding me in the history, culture, and land of the Prairies.
I hold a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta (2014) and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University (2019). My background in both education and counselling informs a practical, compassionate approach to care, designed to meet people where they are.
I have extensive experience in public mental health, particularly within school systems, where I have supported youth, families, and educators. I have contributed to the development of mental health initiatives in Alberta high schools, with a focus on trauma and crisis support for youth. Through this work, I have developed a thoughtful, collaborative style grounded in relationship, respect, and steady support.
Since 2021, I have provided counselling to teens and adults in private practice. My work is rooted in offering accessible, down-to-earth support for individuals navigating life’s challenges, with a focus on creating a space that feels safe and genuine. I see my role as walking alongside clients, rather than acting as an expert in their lives.
I support meaningful, lasting change by helping clients build insight, process emotions, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves. My work is tailored to each individual—their pace, history, goals, and what matters most to them.
I am committed to creating an inclusive and affirming space for people of all identities and backgrounds. I practice with cultural humility and respect, and I am an active ally to 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
